For store owners: how we check prices
Last updated: 10 October 2026
Lowcart shows shoppers the total cost of a product at different stores, including shipping, tax and import fees, and sends them to the store to buy. To do that, our server reads public product information.
What LowcartBot reads
- Your store's public product search results and product pages, for example
/search/suggest.jsonand/products/<handle>.jsonon Shopify. - Your store's public
/meta.json(country, currency and the countries you ship to), about every 6 hours. - Your
robots.txt, once a day. If it disallows a page, we do not read it.
We search when a shopper searches on Lowcart, and once a day for the products on our price pages. We reuse results for up to 6 hours. We never add to cart, create checkouts or place orders. Our user agent is:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; LowcartBot/0.1; +https://getlowcart.com/bot)
Shopify's catalog
We also search Shopify's Global Catalog, Shopify's official product search for shopping agents, to find stores that sell a product and ship to the shopper. Those searches go to Shopify, not to your store. If your store appears, shoppers who choose it are sent to your product page.
